Houses of Fire
A slowly unfurling model for building a better world by learning from the mistakes of the past and present.
A slowly unfurling model for building a better world by learning from the mistakes of the past and present.
This is a work in progress.
It imagines a world
in which people care for each other.
Sharing risks and rewards
moving every individual up Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
prioritizing those in the worst shape
and stoking the fires of individual creativity
within the constraints of a larger community.
It imagines a world
where organizations are structured differently
and we favor captaincy
over chairs, elections, and entitlements.
Instead of short-term thinking and Line Goes Up,
we focus on inputs and outputs,
on products and by-products
and functionality and value.
Instead of BUS-Y-NESS,
we don't make things we don't need,
and we certainly don't spend resources
that took millions of years to make
to make things that'll last only for a few weeks or days.
This model of the future imagines our settlements
structured around places built to foster human good.
These places are called Houses of Fire.
Where we keep the warmth.
